Primary CLIL
Think

Learn: an active
methodology with a hands-on approach
The concept or artistic technique in each unit is
introduced through works of art selected from a variety
of artistic styles, giving students a reason to engage
with the subject content. Students are then shown how
to apply this technique with increasing autonomy.
Stimulate students’ curiosity and effectively develop their
creativity, knowledge and skills through carefully guided
activities and by actively involving them in the learning
process.
Critical thinking skills are promoted from the very
beginning and keep students motivated.
Art and English naturally combined
Careful grading of language makes it easier for students
to understand and learn new, specific art-related
vocabulary.
Each unit establishes links with topics covered in the Natural
Sciences curriculum, thus motivating students to learn more
about both areas and build on their prior knowledge.
Songs provide a context and are an
appealing way of introducing the new
language and structures covered in the unit.
Students are also provided with the necessary
functional language to communicate and talk
about art effectively in English.
