An archipelago is a group of islands in the same area. Let’s read about some islands and archipelagos
around the world.
Greenland
is the biggest island in the world.
It’s between the Atlantic and Arctic Oceans.
Greenland isn’t green: most of the island is
covered in ice! In summer it’s light for 24
hours a day.
Madagascar
is the biggest island in Africa.
It’s in the Indian Ocean. Many different
animals live there, such as lemurs and geckos.
Most of the animals and plants in Madagascar
don’t exist in any other place on Earth!
