Engaging cross-curricular and culture content
More for mixed-ability
Make cross-curricular teaching more
engaging with eye-catching photography
and topics that get children thinking
about other subjects and their own
life experiences.
To help with efficient classroom management and cater for various levels of
ability,
Big Surprise!
provides four-levels of worksheets for each key lesson;
catch-up, support, reinforcement and extension. These worksheets make sure
everyone moves forward together.
For the students who are ahead of the rest, there are also new
fast-finisher activities, as well as challenge-level tests to really
stretch them.
There was a terrible earthquake and tsunami
in Japan in March 2011. It was near the coast
at Sendai. The waves were 40.5 metres high.
It is called the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake or the
Great East Japan Earthquake.

There are five oceans in the world –
the Pacific, the Atlantic, the Arctic, the
Southern and the Indian. The oceans
are 71% of the Earth’s surface and
70% to 80% of the oxygen that we
breathe is produced by the oceans.
There are seven continents – North
America, South America, Africa,
Antarctica, Asia, Australasia and
Europe. Scientists think 180 million
years ago there was just one
continent called Pangaea.
The equator is an imaginary
line around the middle of
the Earth. Countries near the
equator are usually hot. The
North and South Poles are
very cold and there’s lots of
snow and ice. Polar bears live
at the North Pole and penguins
live at the South Pole.
