How we make
your coursebook
Each new course is the result of teamwork. Teachers,
authors and editors all play an essential part in the
course’s production, providing ideas and feedback
that influence the content and help decide how each
page works in the classroom.
Classroom visits, research trips and focus groups
have allowed us to work with thousands of teachers
across Spain. By identifying the content that students
really love and advising on the components that
make their lives easier, their opinions help to shape
our courses, ensuring that they meet the needs
of both students and teachers.
Changes to the curriculum also influence the process.
Our editors and authors keep up to date with
developments, making sure that our courses meet
the latest requirements. New teaching methods,
CLIL, blended learning and 21
st
century skills
also have an impact.

Creation
When you step into a classroom, you set your students
on a journey, giving them the skills they need to succeed.
The teaching materials you choose can inspire and engage
them, catching their imagination and helping
to make learning a joy.
Once our editors have identified the concept of
the new course, our expert authors get involved.
Many of our authors teach, or have taught, in
Spain and keep in close contact with the classroom
by visiting schools and talking to teachers at the
events we organize throughout the year. The authors
work with the editor to write the course, making
sure that it practises a range of skills and meets
curriculum requirements.
Together, the authors and the editor produce
a manuscript – a document that includes the
written content of the course, along with instructions
for design and images and any audio or video
content. Once this is complete, the editor passes
the manuscript to the art editor, who will arrange
for preliminary pages to be designed.
The art editor chooses several artists to create
sample artwork. These samples will be shown
to a number of teachers and the artist that is
most popular will produce the final artwork.
