Model of rising sea levels
Instructions:
1.
Work in groups of four or five.
2.
Put the clay inside the container. Give it the shape
of a coast line.
3.
Put the ice cubes on the bottom of the container,
next to the clay.
4.
Pour water into the container until the ice cubes float.
5.
Use the ruler to measure the height of the water
in millimetres.
6.
Leave the container with the water and ice
in your classroom.
7.
Wait for the ice to melt: this may take several hours!
Then measure the water level again.
8.
Answer these questions in your group. Then present
your conclusions to the class.

gone down or stayed the same?

Why do you think this has happened?

What will happen to coastal regions when the ice
in the polar regions melts?
