Instructions:
1.
Cut the plastic bottle in two horizontally, about 15 cm
from the bottom of the bottle.
2.
Put the stones in the bottom part of the bottle.
They will keep it vertical if it is windy.
3.
Turn the top part of the bottle upside down, and put it
into the bottom part.
4.
Join the two parts of the bottle with masking tape.
5.
Stick a 10 cm piece of masking tape along the side
of the bottle vertically.
6.
Use the ruler to mark centimetres on the masking tape.
Leave a space between the bottom of the bottle
and the ‘0’ on the tape.
7.
Fill the bottle with water up to the ‘0’ mark.
8.
Put your rain gauge outside in an open space:
not under tree or part of a building.
9.
Check the level of water in your rain gauge every day.
Record the information in a table.
10.
Transform the information from the table into a line
graph to present your results.
