Aim:
Show air pollution in a local ecosystem.
Hypothesis:
Answer these questions in your notebook before you start.
a)
Do you think the air in your local area is clean? Why?
b)
Are pollution levels di erent in di erent places?
Method:
1.
Number the paper towels 1 and 2. Write your name on the back
of each one.
2.
Put 10 g of petroleum jelly on one side of each paper towel.
Use your ngers to spread it evenly.
3.
Select two places to test the air quality in your school.
a)
Inside: for example, in your classroom or the library.
b)
Outside: for example, at the entrance or near the bus stop.
4.
Use the masking tape to secure one paper towel in each place.
Record the number of the paper towel and where it is.

5.
Carefully observe the area around each place.
What human activities such as cars or factories could pollute
the air?
There are no / some / many ... in this area.
Results:
A er 48 hours, collect the towels.
