Where do we spend money?
The Internet
Nowadays, we
can buy most
consumer products
on the Internet.
We can buy both
high and low order
products online.
Shopping centres
Shopping centres are large and have a lot of space
to display products. They usually have car parks,
so we often find
big shops and
supermarkets there.
Low order products
can be bought there,
but so can high order
products.
High order products
These are products that have
a
high
price. We don’t buy
them regularly. Cars, houses,
fridges, clothes and electrical
products are all examples of
high order products.
Low order products
These are products that we buy
every week. They have a
lower
price than high order products.
Food and drinks, medicines
and personal hygiene products
are all low order products.
Town centres
Town centres usually
have many small
specialist shops.
High order products
can be bought there.
A tax is money we
pay to the government.
In the Middle Ages,
Europeans had to pay
a tax on soap. In many
countries, the soap tax
continued for centuries,
so washing became
quite expensive!
