companies
There are many different types of companies: some are small and some
are large and operate in different countries. Companies provide a
product or a service in order to make money.

In a
partnership,
two or more
people own and
direct a company
together. Many
partnerships
also work in the
tertiary sector,
for example in
legal services.
In a
cooperative,
all the people
working in the company own
it together. Sometimes their
objective is to make money,
but some cooperatives exist for
social or cultural reasons.
A
sole trader
owns and directs
his or her own
company. They
often work in the
tertiary sector, for
example in retail
and transport.
A
corporation
is owned by the
people who have
shares in the
company. Senior
employees direct
the company.
Some corporations
are very big
and operate in
many countries.
We call them
multinationals
.
