3. Wood and its derivatives
FINAL TASK
You have probably played with wooden puzzles, but would
you be able to make one? In this unit you are going to build
your own puzzle. Try to think of some that you already
know. Look at the examples in the photo and look for
others that will help you with your design.
Making a wooden puzzle and its box
Specifications
The puzzle will be one of these types:

A tangram set and its box.
❚❚
Interlocking pieces.
The material will be a single sheet of wood of 30 cm x 40 cm.
The puzzle should be as big as possible to make the best use of the sheets of wood.
In the tangram set, you should be able to close it so as not to lose the pieces.
Both puzzles should have a varnish or paint finish.
Before you begin… Answer
Look at the puzzle and answer the questions:

What is it made of? Is it made from a block, a plank or a sheet of wood?
2.
Make a list of the different things that were done to the wood to build it.
3.
Do you know the names of any of the tools or instruments that were used?
