The world around us
8
The Earth has two different movements:
revolution
and
rotation
. Revolution is the movement of the Earth
around the
Sun
. The Earth takes
365
days and 6 hours to make a complete orbit of the Sun. The Earth’s
axis
is another imaginary line. It goes from the North Pole to the South Pole. The axis is
tilted
so as the
Earth moves around the Sun, some places get more light and heat. This causes the
seasons
. The seasons in
the Northern Hemisphere are at different times than they are in the Southern Hemisphere.
Why do we
have different
seasons?
