What’s at the
centre of
the Earth?
The Earth has three main parts: the
atmosphere
, the
hydrosphere
and the
geosphere
.
The geosphere is the
solid part of the Earth.
It’s divided into layers:
The
crust
is the
outer layer. It’s
made of solid rock.
The atmosphere is the
layer of
gases
around the
Earth. It’s mainly made up
of nitrogen and oxygen.
The hydrosphere is all
the
water
on Earth. This
water can be liquid, solid
or gas. Most water on
Earth is liquid.
The
mantle
is under the
crust. It’s made of
magma
.
Magma is semi-liquid rock.
It’s very hot.
The
core
is the inner layer.
It’s mostly made of iron.
This layer is the hottest.
