There are holes in the ozone layer but scientists also think that the atmosphere has become
thicker
because of pollution. This means that it is harder for heat to escape into space. The heat returns to Earth
making our
environment
hotter. Scientists think that the temperature rise causes more extreme weather
conditions. Some extreme weather conditions include:
Floods
happen when there is too
much rain and it doesn’t filter through
the soil fast enough. Sometimes we
build on land that should be left to
absorb rain.
Hurricanes
are storms with very
strong winds.
Drought
is the absence
of water for a long time.
We need to look after our atmosphere
by trying to
prevent
pollution. We can
do this by.
Using our cars less and using public
transport more if we can.
Using less electricity. Electricity is
produced by power stations which
cause pollution.
