Europe is in the Northern Hemisphere.
It’s the world’s second-smallest continent
a er Oceania. Of the 47 countries that make
up the European continent, 28 of these
form the European Union (EU). In terms of
relief, there are mountains in the centre,
north and south, and there is a huge central
plain which stretches from the Atlantic to
the Ural Mountains. Most of Europe is in
the temperate climate zone, although the
climate varies considerably: from polar in
the far north, to the warm Mediterranean
climate in the south.
