Elicit answers from the students by asking, for example,
What can they do at the library? Where can they buy meat?
Where can they get medicine? What can they buy at the
bakery?
Activity 2

Track 14.
Look at the pictures of different places in
the city. Ask the students to find the images in the large
illustration. Explain that they need to listen and number the
places in the order that they hear them. When they have
finished they can compare answers with a partner. Check
answers with the whole group.

Memory game. Tell the students to study the large
illustration for 30 seconds. Then they close their books and
answer questions. If the information is true they clap, if it’s
false they stamp their feet. Say, for example,
There is a park
(students clap),
There is a gym.
(students stamp).
Activity 3

Look at the pictures in the two exterior columns. Tell the
students to read thewords in pairs. Explain that they need to
match the images in the centre with the place where these
activities take place. When they have finished matching,
they can check their answers with a partner. Check answers
with the class.

Listen to the chant about places in the city.
Play the chant again encouraging students to join in. They
can point to the places in Activity 3 as they listen.

Read through the sentence at the bottom of the page.

Organise students into or small groups. Explain that
they need to take turns acting out what they do in these
places. They can show the rest of the class who can guess
where they are in the city by asking questions, for example:
Is it bread? Are you in the bakery?

Students look at the photo at the bottom of the page. Say:

(a city). Invite the students
to think about what they will talk about in upcoming lessons
based on the image.
