How to start
•
Ask the students to work in pairs or groups of three.
One student mimes a way to help at home, school or the
community and their partner guesses what they are doing.
When their partner has guessed, they change roles.
Activities: step-by-step guide
•
Look at the
survey
chart and explain to the students that
they will need to ask three classmates questions and keep
track of their answers. They need to put a tick [
✔
] if their
partner says ‘yes’ and and X if their partner says ‘no’.
•
Read through the questions making sure that the students
feel con dent with the vocabulary and then allow time
for them to walk around the class asking and answering
questions. Tell them to copy the question from the
Results
section on the previous page to the last space on the survey.
Assessment opportunity
•
As students are carrying out the survey, walk around the
class informally assessing progress.
•
Whenthestudentshave nished, lookat the
Results
section.
Tell them to compare their results with a partner and to
compare their answers. They can then use their answers to
check if their predictions (in the
Make Predictions
section
from the previous lesson) were right.
Extra idea!
Revision
•
Ask the students to look back at the survey and circle the
questions that they would say ‘yes’ to.
