Group work diorama
How to start
Show di erent materials for the dioramas to the class
and ask them to think of alternative uses for the recycled
material.
Activities: step-by-step guide
Read through the instructions to make the diorama.
Divide the class into groups or 4-5. Give out material to each
group.
Teaching tip
When distributing or collecting material young learners
love to be involved and help. Assign helpers for each group
– one person to hand out material, one person to return the
material and a clean-up person.
Tell themto think of buildings, places and objects theywould
like to have in their community made of recycled material.
Allow time for the groups to work on their dioramas.
Assessment opportunity
As students are working on the dioramas, walk around the
class providing support and guidance for groups who need
it while informally checking progress.
When all of the groups are nished, they share their
dioramas with other groups. Create a display area for the
dioramas.
My progress
Tell the students to take out a crayon and to colour the happy
or sad face to indicate whether or not they are con dent
with di erent items.
As the students are colouring the faces, walk around
the class asking di erent individual students questions.
Informally assess progress.
